Much to our collective disappointment, all Los Angeles Public Libraries were closed for a few months in the interest of public safety. This left a lot of residents without a place to get their work done or without a free influx of books to read. Well, we have good news! Sure, libraries still aren’t open to the public, but you can at least now enjoy books almost as usual. The Los Angeles Public Libraries are now implementing library pickup services for residents to start borrowing materials once again. Not every branch, however, is offering this option. Lucky for us, the Silver Lake, Los Feliz, and Echo Park branches are now open for book pickup.
Using the Library Pickup Services
Using the new library pickup services is super easy. They’ve made it very convenient for you to enjoy library materials during your quarantine. In order to check out material, such as books and movies, you just need to follow three simple steps.
- First, head over to the Los Angeles Public Library online catalog. Browse the catalog, make the hold you want, and select one of the available pickup locations. There are plenty of branches for you to choose from! Hopefully one of them is close enough.
- Now you have to wait until you get an email notification regarding your hold. Once you get the hold notice, just call the library branch and schedule a pickup appointment with them. Their service hours are weekdays from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
- Pick up your items at the branch you chose and enjoy them! Just remember to wear a face covering, such as a face mask or a bandana, when picking up your materials. When it’s time to return them, just head over to the book drop at any of the library pickup locations.
