At the intersection of Hyperion Avenue and Udell Court has stood a fixture of the Silver Lake food scene for almost six decades. Casita del Campo, a restaurant founded in 1962, is home to some of the area’s most delicious Mexican food, the coziest atmosphere, and the friendliest staff. They are certainly a staple of the community still going strong after all this time. Evidently, it’s no surprise that they are still providing the neighborhood with authentic and homelike meals during the pandemic. They are currently offering delivery and takeout orders so that you can continue to enjoy their unique menu.

A West Coast Story

The story behind Casita del Campo is a favorite between local residents. Rudy del Campo and his family opened the restaurant in 1962. At the time, he had already left his mark as a dancer on the stage and onscreen, having played one of the Sharks in the movie adaptation of West Side Story. Three years later in 1965, he met his wife Nina, who continues to run the restaurant to this day. Sadly, Rudy passed away in 23, but his legacy lives on in the restaurant he helped bring to life. The cozy locale is decorated with beautiful Latin-American art and West Side Story memorabilia, celebrating its unique origin. Through the decades, Casita del Campo has continued to offer a traditional menu full of delicious classics of Mexican cuisine. Nowadays, they continue to do so in an exciting and nostalgic atmosphere.

Order from the classic Mexican Restaurant

Sadly, local residents are unable to enjoy the aforementioned atmosphere. Restaurants remain closed as part of a collective effort to halt the spread of COVID-19 and protect the population. However, many restaurants, including Casita del Campo, are still open for takeout and delivery. If you feel like enjoying some of their delicious traditional meals, you can order through their Postmates profile or call them at (323) 662-4255.
