Your dog is probably very excited to have you home this much nowadays. You’re not going anywhere, you get to spend more time with them, and you probably keep taking them out for walks whenever you feel bored or stuck inside your home. You might have been discouraged to learn that park closures are being implemented across Los Angeles. Don’t worry, though, parks and dog parks are still open. The Silver Lake dog park is still open for you to enjoy with your pet, but there are certain things you do need to keep in mind.
What Is Closed?
In compliance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public and Health orders and suggestions, the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks has established a variety of different guidelines, regulations, and closures to protect that population from potential contagion. All recreation centers, aquatic facilities, golf courses, skate parks, tennis courts, playgrounds, baseball fields, soccer fields, and basketball courts are closed. Additionally, public beaches, piers, and boardwalks are all closed, save for minimal access to essential businesses. In Griffith Park, the Observatory, Travel Town, Train Rides, Pony Rides, the Merry Go Round, and all trails and trailheads are closed. All public hiking trails and trailheads under the City of Los Angeles jurisdiction are closed.
Silver Lake Dog Park
However, as previously mentioned, parks are still open with specific adjustments to their operations. Gardens are still open for walking and running. There, social distancing habits must be practiced at all times, avoiding group activities and gatherings. By city mandate, all dog parks in the city, including the Silver Lake dog park, are open as usual. This means that you can still take your pets out for a walk, some exercise, and some playtime. After all, they feel cooped up too. Just remember to maintain social distancing when you take your dogs out. Enjoy the outdoors, spend some quality time with your dog, and remain responsible!
