Whether you’re a local or a tourist, here are some upcoming Silver Lake events to watch out for. The month of June, as we all know, features the annual celebration of Pride month, and the local community has something in store for everyone who takes part in these festivities.
Here at Silverlandia, we have for you the latest scoop from around town, and here’s what’s in store for you next.
Pride Month Celebrations On Tap
As we all know, the month of June celebrates and honors the LGBTQ community, and Silver Lake is doing it big. From June 3-5, the WeHo Pride street fair will take place in and around West Hollywood Park on San Vicente Boulevard. Also happening is the OUTLOUD Raising Voices Music Festival, which is happening on the same day. It will feature some of the upcoming musical talents from within the community who will perform for free. The entire event will be capped off by the parade on Sunday, June 5th, at noon.
The City of West Hollywood released an official statement, saying, “The city has played host for Los Angeles’ annual Pride celebration for over four decades and will now create its own unique programming in honor of the LGBTQ+ community.“
Guests will get to enjoy food and beverages from nearby beer gardens. Craft cocktails will also be served.
‘Dance DTLA’
From June 3rd to September 2nd, The Music Center along Jerry Moss Plaza will offer free dancing lessons under the stars. Aptly named “Dance DTLA,” it will feature different dance genres with instructors teaching salsa, Colombian Cumbia, Disco, Bollywood, Bachata, and more.
And after the free lessons, guests are free to stick around to dance the night away to live DJ sets. It’s a never-ending party that does not require anyone to have prior dance experience. All you need is to show up and have fun. It is free for all ages, but no outside alcohol is permitted.
